Numerous signaling pathways have been suggested to be involved in neurodegenerative disease. Valproic acid is a branched-chain fatty acid used to treat bipolar disorder and epilepsy. Valproic acid modulates immunity by the activation of monocyte-derived macrophages. The present review study focused on the role of Valproic acid in neurodegenerative diseases such as MS and stroke.
